MLB commissioned the shirt design as a surprise for the team’s management

The Mets Team Store was closing for renovations and in order to make sure we were ready for opening day we needed to create shirts that went from April to September. I created a t-shirt logo and font combination and began looking for content to fit onto the design.

When MLB received not only approvals but also enthusiasm about adding another, on-topic shirt, it became clear that the project space could be expanded. On-demand customization of shirts had never been tried before so there was no data out there on what people wanted most or how they might behave online while browsing customizable clothing. Despite this, MLB felt confident in increasing the size of our team so we reached out to more brands who also wanted share this exclusive new project with their
