Dubai continues to grow and the aim is to attract 15 million visitors by the year 2010, and the government looks to increase the tourist market to nearly 40 million by 2015. To ensure these targets are met the country is swiftly becoming a must visit destination. Listed below are some of the new projects which are still in the development process and are areas which will help achieve the dedicated targets.
This new light-rail network will operate driverless trains on 4 lines running underground and overground. It is estimated that the metro will handle between 1 and 2 million passengers a day by the year 2015.
The first trains will be operational in 2009.
Al Barari is a luxury development consisting of 330 luxury villas, a boutique hotel and a major health resort. Over 80% of the area will be turned into woodland and botanical gardens with lakes and streams.
This area will incorporate the worlds longest shopping and hospitality boulevard. There will be major entertainment facilities, along with various shopping malls. You will also find 51 new hotels, one which will have over 6500 suites.
This man made water way will run from Dubai Waterfront past the airport and back down to Dubai Marina. It is the most complex engineering project undertaken in the Middle East and will be more than 75km long.
Business Bay is situated in a self contained city area, and the Creek will be extended out to allow yachts to dock outside the offices. There will be over 200 tower buildings including the new Emirates Park Tower Hotel which will take over as the worlds tallest hotel.

This development incorporates new houses, a major retail development, a brand new marina and a magnificent golf course. There will also be a selection of 5* Hotels some of which are already open.
This unique development can be found just before you enter The Palm Jumeirah. There will be specific dedicated offices, various 5* Luxury Hotels, a worldclass shopping mall, an art gallery and a venue known as The Royal Hall which will be the biggest performing arts venue in the UAE.
The Lagoons are 7 artificial islands on the edge of Dubai Creek. They will incorporate many housing areas, shopping centres, a brand new opera house, a world class marina and various 5* Hotels.
This area will incorporate luxury residential properties, as well as many fantastic hotels. All the water and lakes will be fresh water along with various cycling paths and a brand new 18 hole golf course designed by Greg Norman.
