Whilst in Dubai you may need to obtain a drivers licence, to do this you must be a resident of the UAE with an up to date resident visa. This visa must be issued in Dubai and the minimum age to obtain a drivers licence is 18.

If you already have a drivers licence from any of the GCC countries, then you can transfer to a dubai drivers licence without having to take any lessons or tests.

You need only do this if you are planning to live in Dubai. If you decide to transfer your licence it must be valid, you must supply one passport size photograph, your original passport, your original drivers licence, a full up to date eye test and a fee of 100 Dhs. If your driving licence is not already in English or Arabic you will have to pay to have it translated.

Please note should you hold an Indian drivers licence or an indian international licence, they are not valid in the UAE and you will have to take a new driving test to obtain a new licence.
